The Refuge Office is located in King Salmon, about 300 miles southwest of Anchorage. The office in King Salmon is in a modern two story facility by the bank of the Naknek River.
The Refuge’s approximately 2,648,100 acres of rolling tundra, towering mountain peaks and wave-battered coastline. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service protects and manages the Alaska Peninsula Refuge to conserve fish & wildlife population and their habitats with special emphasis on brown bears, caribou, marine mammals, migratory birds, raptors and salmon.
The refuge office is located approximately 1/8 mile from the King Salmon Airport. Signs and assistance can be obtained from the King Salmon interagency visitor center, which is adjacent to the airport terminal. Regularly scheduled commercial flights are available between King Salmon and Anchorage (there is not road access to King Salmon or the refuge).
